SK5M steel is a high-speed steel (HSS) with the addition of cobalt, which stands out for its very good resistance to wear and high operating temperatures. Thanks to its chemical composition, it maintains its hardness even under conditions of intensive exploitation, which translates into a longer tool life. It is particularly valued in applications where stability of operation at high loads and high cutting speeds is required.
In practice, SK5M steel is mainly used for the production of cutting tools, such as milling cutters, drills, or taps, intended for machining materials with increased strength. Thanks to its properties, it finds application in demanding industrial processes where the durability and reliability of tools are crucial.
